MDF picture frame

List of materials

MDF frame, 25 x 25 cm format, pencil, graphite transfer paper, scissors, adhesive tape, acrylic paint "Ivory" or "White", bristle brush, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 170, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 160, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 264

Step 1

Paint the complete surface of the MDF frame with "ivory" or white acrylic paint. Allow to dry.

Step 2

Print out templates 1 and 2 at 100 %. Cut template 2 along the centre line and then stick it against the centre line of template 2. To determine the exact height, align the templates using the line below the Faber-Castell logo. Cut out final format of the template (25 x 25 cm) and attach to one edge of the frame with adhesive tape.

Step 3

Lay graphite paper, dark side down, between the template sheet and the picture frame. Trace the lines on the template sheet. After the first few lines, lift graphite paper to check that the lines have been transferred.

Step 4

Before finally removing the template sheet, check once more that all lines have been transferred. Remove template sheet from MDF frame. Using Pitt Artist Pen Brush and big brush, colour in all areas.

Step 5

To protect against dust, the frame should then be coated with a lacquer. Spray lacquer evenly from the can and allow to dry. Fit hanger to frame.

Coat hanger

Coat hanger, bare wood or painted white, graphite transfer paper, pencil, scissors, adhesive tape, acrylic paint "Ivory" or "White", bristle brush, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 170, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 160, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 264

Step 1

If necessary, sand the surface of the coat hanger smooth. Paint the bare wood hanger with "ivory" or white acrylic paint and allow to dry.

Step 2

Print out two copies of template at 100 % of actual size. 1. Cut out rosette, position and stick down in the centre of the hanger. If the template is too large, print it out proportionally smaller.
Lay first half of hanger on the large patter of the template, then trace the outline of the hanger closely with a pencil. Cut out the design along the outline that you have drawn. Repeat this step with the second copy for the other half of the hanger.
Stick the cut-out template to the right and left of the rosette on the upper edge of the hanger using two adhesive strips.
Lay graphite paper, dark side down, between the template sheet and the hanger. Trace the lines on the template sheet. After the first few lines, lift graphite paper to check that the lines have been transferred.

Step 3

Before finally removing the template sheets, check once more that all lines have been transferred. Using Pitt Artist Pen Brush or Big Brush, colour in all areas.

Coat Rack

Pre-cut plywood, format 23.9 x 62 cm, pencil, graphite transfer paper, scissors, adhesive tape, acrylic paint "Ivory" or "White", bristle brush, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 170, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 160, Pitt Artist Pen Brush 264

Step 1

Cut plywood to size and mark the circle for the rosette in the centre. Saw it out. Paint the complete surface of the pre-cut plywood with "ivory" or white acrylic paint.

Allow to dry.

Step 2

Print out one copy of template 1 and three copies of Template 2 at 100 % of the size. Cut out rosette, place in circle and attach with adhesive tape.
Draw the segments for the patter with a pencil, then cut out templates and lay onto the pre-cut plywood. Secure with adhesive strips. Lay graphite paper, dark side down, between the template sheet and the wood. Trace the lines on the template sheet. After the first few lines, lift graphite paper to check that the lines have been transferred. After tracing, remove the pattern template.
