It was indeed an awe inspiring moment for the children of Global Maths in USJ on Friday, December 19, 2008 when they were greeted and ushered-in by 45 beauty queens from around the world at the Faber-Castell’s head office in Subang Jaya today.
The event which carried the theme “Save The Mother Earth” highlighted a coloring contest for the children which interestingly had the beauty queens equally engaged in participation; together displaying a seamless bond of mutual understanding and co-operation. The occasion was part of the delegates’ itinerary following the commencement of the 12th Miss Tourism International - 2008 World Final.
“Just witnessing the enthusiasm in the eyes of the children as they eagerly worked with their coloring instruments was delightful. And seeing the children easily warm-up to their visitors indicated that the event had achieved its purpose of creating a platform to foster friendships, cultural exchange and encourage environmental awareness,” said Mr. Toh Yan Peng, Managing Director and Founder of Faber-Castell Malaysia.
Faber-Castell Malaysia sponsors the Miss Tourism International - 2008 World Final as its Official Writing Implement; which saw its coronation took place on December 31, 2008.
Later, the children and pageant delegates were given an exclusive tour of the factory grounds which inevitably drew gasps of marvel when they were confronted by the tallest pencil in Malaysia. The pencil stands 19.75meters tall and has a diameter of 0.75meters.
Mr. Andrew Pang, Marketing Manager of Faber-Castel Malaysia said that the event was part of its 30th Anniversary celebration, and was pleased with the day’s outcome.
