Faber-Castell in harmony with the nature
As the world's leading manufacturer of wood-cased pencils, Faber-Castell has always spared a thought for the future of wood as raw material.
Forestry plantations help preserve and maintain native forests by providing an alternative and renewable resource for our future generations. |

In Brazil, the company uses fast-growing soft wood from its managed forests, planted on former barren savannah, and maintains its own tree nurseries. Seedlings are continually planted out to replace each row trees felled: a sustainable ecological cycle. Over a million young trees of type Pinus caribaea are planted out each year on a total area of some 100 square kilometres, thousands of kilometres from the endangered Amazon rainforests.
The Faber-Castell forests and factories have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is a committe of the world's most powerful forestry experts, including organizations such as Greenpeace and WWF.

Sustainability means responsibility for the future
Conserving natural resources is just one part of our commitment to better quality of life. As part of an "integrated product policy" the entire life cycle of our products is subjected to critical analysis to reduce the long-term energy requirements to a minimum. Faber-Castell is the only company to use environment-friendly water based paint for all its wood-cased pencils produced in Europe - another significant pioneering step
